Amy Matysio is an award winning Canadian stage and screen actress, improviser/writer, producer and host with over 100 credits to her name and accolades that include Playback’s Ten to Watch, CBC's Future 40 and ELLE Canada’s On the Radar. Matysio is the creator, writer, co-producer and star of the critically acclaimed web comedy inSAYSHAble, which garnered her a seventh Canadian Comedy Award nomination and a "Best Actress" win at both LA WebFest and HollyWeb (Los Angeles). She currently appears as Penny in CTVExtend/Hulu's comedy Space Riders, can be seen on screens across Canada in the award-winning indie feature Lawrence and Holloman and starring as rifle toting Tina Walsh in the much buzzed about horror comedy WolfCop, which exploded into Cineplex theatres this past summer and continues to play all over the world. A celebrated stage actress with roles that include Vanda in Venus in Fur (Golden Apple Theatre), Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra (Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan) and the one woman "tour-de-force" The Syringa Tree (Globe Theatre), Matysio is currently part of the 2014/15 National Arts Centre's English Theatre company ensemble under the artistic direction of Jillian Keiley. As a voice artist she has lent her unique sound to numerous brands including McDonalds, Astro Yogurt and Sasktel, while creating a wild variety of voices for CBC radio programs including Ideas, SoundXchange and This is That.
Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan she now makes her home Toronto; where she eats out often, pops up in improv shows at Comedy Bar and hangs out with her husband, fiddle player/composer Karrnnel Sawitsky.
